Sports Committee Dinner

The Committee and Officials who had the management of the sports at Wisbech St Mary on Whit Monday, together with a few friends, dined together last evening at the Wheel Inn. Mr Matthew Wilson presided over a company numbering about thirty. Those present included Messrs J A Whitfield (President), T Desborough (Treasurer), H C Whitfield (Secretary), J T Garford, J Garford, C H Peck, J Dann, J Flagg, T Rolfe, T Scrimshaw, F Wilson, W Jewson, A C Cousins, H Whitfield, V Skeels, F Steward, W Blanchflower, W Bassett, and others. Host J Lewin served a substantial repast, and at the conclusion, the usual loyal toasts were duly pledged.

Success to the Show and other toasts were enthusiastically honoured, and an expression of thanks was also accorded to the President for the use of his field.

The financial statement was of a satisfactory character. It showed a balance in hand before the recent show of £22 10s. The receipts, including £43 4s gate money, amounted to £85 4s. On the expenditure side was £48 10s for prize money, the other expenses included Band £4 5s, printing etc. £10 15s 6d, secretary £3, tents £3 10s, and several other items making in all a total of £32 4s. The balance in hand was £26 15s.of that amount it has been decided to forward a guinea to the North Cambs Hospital and a similar sum for the out-patient department of that institution.

The evening was spent in a convivial and pleasant manner.
