Vicar to leave parish for Eye and Thorney - February 2007
The Bishop of Ely has today (Sunday the 11th February) announced that the Vicar
of Wisbech St Mary, the Revd Colin Hurst will be moving to become the
Priest-in-Charge of Eye (Diocese of Peterborough) and Thorney (Diocese of Ely).
The official announcement reads: Subject to legal and administration procedures being completed the Bishop of Ely is
pleased to announce the appointment of the Reverend Colin Hurst as Priest in Charge of
Thorney Abbey. Colin will also be licensed by the Bishop of Peterborough as Priest in Charge
of Eye and Newborough. Colin who is 48 is currently Vicar of Wisbech St Mary and Guyhirn with Ring's End,
Gorefield, Southea with Murrow and Parson Drove in this diocese. He is married to Liz and they
have two teenage children: Phoebe and Catherine.
The family will live in Eye after Colin's licensing by both the Bishops of Ely and Peterborough,
this will take place on Friday 18th May at Thorney Abbey.
