THE SCHOOL
Wisbech St Mary School is a Church of England
Aided Primary School that has served the village and the
surrounding area for over 140 years. The school caters for pupils
aged from four to eleven. At present there are 134 pupils on
roll, 5 full time and 2 part time teachers and 6 support staff.
The acting headteacher is ably supported by an excellent
team of teaching staff and Learning Support Assistants
The original building dates back to 1859. It
has been extended many times as the population of the parish
grew. The school has recently benefited from a major improvement
scheme. This has provided a spacious new hall, a new library, and
the refurbishment of existing teaching rooms together with a new
administration area, staff room and kitchen.
The school is set in its own grounds. There
is a large playground and an excellent field for football,
cricket and sports. The school also has a wildlife area and a
wildflower meadow. Out of hours study support includes gardening, computers, netball and rugby,
drama, keyboard and art.
The village playgroup premises adjoin the new
buildings. The playgroup provides very valuable pre-school
education and has strong links with the school.

THE SCHOOL’S MISSION STATEMENT
At Wisbech St Mary School we aim to provide
the best possible education for all our pupils in the context of
a Christian community.
The school believes that all pupils are of
equal value, regardless of their sex, race, background, creed,
faith or ability. All pupils should have equal access to
opportunities and resources, and the school believes that all
pupils are entitled to high-quality, well-planned and
well-organised teaching throughout the school, in a caring and
cared-for environment.
The school believes that what the pupils
learn at school should contribute to their emotional, physical,
intellectual, social and spiritual growth, enabling them to
develop and test their own personal values and attitudes. The
children’s involvement in and contribution to the daily
life of the school is welcomed.
